I’m Back!

image

I took an unintentional hiatus from blogging as a result having to work over full time at my job the last few weeks. Some girls at the restaurant I work at quit, so I had to be both of their replacements. Yay money!

I bought this dress a few weeks ago on sale for $8 and I was so excited because I didn’t have any dresses with peter pan collars until now. These shoes I bought on black Friday. I looked at them all summer but I refused to pay full price for something that isn’t great quality. Nevertheless, I love the color and I wanted them. They were only $7!

I’m still working over 30 hours this week and preparing for finals (and trying to figure out winter blogging) but I will do better at making posts from now on!

I Count Maroon as a Neutral

Image

Today I wore ALL of the neutrals.  It tends to be a fall thing I do.  I decide that the best way to make sure I match is to wear all of the neutrals in my closet.  I’m not saying it always works, but it happens.  But that being said, this is probably my favorite outfit I have put on the blog.  I am obsessed with blazers.  And I am really happy about the boots I bought last week that were normally $65, but were on sale for $20.  And I don’t pay more than $20 for just about anything, so I would not have bought them otherwise.  These tights have become one of my favorite pairs, but before this year I think I wore them once.  I was scared of the pattern.  Lately, I have been pulling things out of my closet that I never wear and challenging myself to find an outfit for them.  And it’s been working so I think it’s a challenge I am going to keep for myself.

Another challenge I am making for myself is keeping up on my blog posts.  I am now caught up.  Today was another day I had coffee  with Katie and Elana.  It’s started to become our Friday thing and I love it.  These girls are so lovely and I’m hoping that soon I can officially declare a fashion merchandising minor and halfway know what they are talking about!

Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na BATMAN!

10578577345_78d6d268fd_b

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting two of the bloggers at my school, Katie, and Elana.  I had such a wonderful time meeting these girls and having someone to talk to about blogging.  Also, since I tend to be extremely challenged with technology, I got a lot of useful information about how their blogs look the way they do.  As they are both fashion merchandising majors at the school I go to, I had a lot of questions and I found out I can minor in FM.  I am really looking into that possibility and I’m really hoping I can fit it in in the next year and a half or so.

But back to my outfit.  I love this outfit.  It’s funky.  I’m not really sure what possessed me to wear it, but I’m okay with it.  I don’t own a lot of t-shirts and I didn’t buy this one but my sister gave it to me and I love it!  The fabric is really soft and broken in and I wear it all the time now.  This skirt is also one of the best things I have bought recently.  It goes with so much and is so simple that I can really jazz it up with anything or most any color.  Or in the case of this outfit, every color.

Anyone who knows me, knows about my obsession with bows.  Sometimes, I wear a bunch of different bows at once.  Like this day.  My favorite bow earrings with the necklace that started the obsession.

I meant to tuck my shirt in a little better, but hey.  That is the beauty of taking outfit pictures where there is no mirror close by you.

Pretty Leaves

image

I am obsessed with these leaves much more than I am my outfit, or anything in my closet for that matter. I took pictures simply because I realized how pretty it was next door. But I guess I like my outfit too. And I guess that’s what you came here to see, so…

This is one of my favorite dresses. I wore it in my first post. And while it is not particularly autumnal, I was set on wearing it anyway. Also, the lighting makes it hard to tell but I am wearing gray tights, not black.  I love my brown oxfords, but they match very little in my closet, so I take anytime I can to wear them.

Hope you’re enjoying this lovely autumn weather while it lasts!!!

Finally Feels Like Fall

image

I decided to take blog pictures at 6 last night so the pictures are all really dark. Silly me can’t remember that it gets dark early now.

I’m finally getting back to blogging more often. Since I haven’t been doing this for very long and my posts are already sporadic, I feel like I should get myself together and get on a normal schedule. I’m still getting used to having two jobs again. I got lucky and was able to go home for part if the weekend. I got Bubble Tea and jambalaya from River House and I got to see everyone at Vintage Rose for a bit.
Since Macomb does not have a Goodwill or a Salvation Army, I went to two of them this weekend and I got part of my Halloween costume and a pretty new red wool coat for $6! I am never paying full price for a winter coat again!

My necklace was given to me by a dealer from Vintage Rose as a going away present. It’s 1920s, red, and a bow…so what not to love about it?

Out and About

image

image

My friend Sarah and I had an afternoon with no rehearsals, no homework, no shows, no anything. It was glorious. We thrifted and got food, walked in the park, looked at apartments for next year (!!!). Overall it was the kind of day we hadn’t had in…almost two months. We were much overdue for a day of dressing up for no reason, followed by a great performance that night (Talking With ladies, that’s you!).

Saturday was one of the last really mild days I think we’ll have, so it’s time to pack up all those summer clothes and move to my favorite season!!

What I Wore: To Tech Rehearsal

image

Yesterday I opened my first show of the semester, Bat Boy the Musical. The concept of the show is in black and white, so for our first tech we had to wear black and white. I wore my absolute favorite vintage dress. It was another one I had to get hemmed because it was about to my ankle.

My friend Emily and I at tech… 🙂 dress twins!  My friend Savannah photo bombed us.

We run until Saturday and I will be so sad when it is over.

I’m so glad I bought this skirt. It’s very versatile, and not just because it’s reversible (it’s baby blue on the other side). Yesterday I wore the guest outfit to rehearsal and then changed into the second outfit for a black light party I was going to that night.

Out of the Blue

The weather here is slowly changing. We had a couple days where it felt like autumn and then suddenly it went back to 80° weather and high humidity. But one if those days I got to wear my scarf and leather jacket.

Leather jackets are my guilty pleasure. I buy them every time I find them cheap and in my size.

The hat is from a great shop in Iowa City called Silver Spider. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re ever there!

What I Wore: For Auditions

image

As a theatre student, I have done about 4 auditions since school started. I’m not ashamed to say I have worn this dress for two of them. It’s a perfect audition dress. Directors prefer solid colors as it is less distracting. But somehow you have to stand out and that is where the cutouts in my dress AND my shoes come in. Little details like that are what make you be remembered.

But I digress.

While I love this dress (because it’s my favorite color), my shoes are my favorite part of this outfit. My roommate Cole found them at a thrift store over the summer and sent me a picture while I was still at home.  Miraculously, they were in my size! Well…half a size small. The point is, they work for an audition. 🙂
